ANNUAL FUND

For over 40 years the Women’s Resource Center (WRC) has been a dynamic force in our community, helping over 61,773 adults, teens and children in Lackawanna and Susquehanna Counties rebuild their lives free of violence and fear. Of that number, 50,259 were adult and child victims of domestic violence and 11,514 victims of sexual abuse. Here is what one participant had to say about her experience at WRC…

“The Women’s Resource Center helped my children and I get out of a very dangerous and abusive home. They were there every step of the way to help me get housing for my family, food, clothing, legal help, and even an education. My life is completely different today than a year ago.” – Tiffany, Survivor & WRC Program Participant

Those reaching out for help come from all walks of life, socioeconomic backgrounds, education, ethnicities, and sexual orientation. Services are free and extended to everyone, including family members and adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. In order to continue our mission, we need your help and hope that you will show your support this year with a gift to the 2019 annual fund. Last year’s contributions empowered us to:

  • Respond to over 2,140 cases of domestic violence and sexual assault in Lackawanna and Susquehanna counties
  • Provide over 14,500 safe nights of shelter to adults in need of emergency crisis housing
  • Piloted the Safe Dates prevention program in area middle/high schools educating youth on how to identify and prevent adolescent relationship abuse.

Your gift is 100% tax-deductible with 100% of proceeds directly supporting the Women’s Resource Center services and programs.

OTHER GIVING OPPORTUNITIES

Gifts of Stock

Publicly Traded Stocks or Securities – Much like cash, gifts of stock are tax-deductible at full fair market value if held for at least a year. The donor is not taxed on long-term capital appreciation.

Gifts of appreciated property (such as stocks, bonds, or mutual funds), held for longer than one year, allowing you to bypass capital gains tax normally due when you sell the assets and provide you a charitable income tax deduction that reduces the cost of your gift.

Matching Gift Programs

Matching Gift programs exist within many companies. Matching gifts are a type of corporate giving program that essentially double an employee’s initial donation to an eligible nonprofit organization. Check to see if your employer has a matching gift program.

Pledge

A Pledge is a way to pay for your gift over an extended period of time. You can make payments monthly, semi-annually or annually to fulfill your pledge. You can place a credit card on file to be charged on a timeline that is convenient for you.
