volunteer
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Women’s Resource Center. Without the dedicated support of our volunteers, we would not be able to do the work that we do. Please note that volunteers who work directly with clients must complete a 60-hour training prior to volunteering. Please call us at 570-346-4460 in Lackawanna County and 570-278-1800 in Susquehanna County to begin.

raise funds
Join us in raising funds to help us provide crisis counseling, safe housing and other services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault by sponsoring a fundraiser through your workplace, church, school, social organization, or individually. Fundraisers such as basket raffles, receptions, etc. are always welcome. Please call us at 570-346-4460 to discuss how you can help.

natch a gift
Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees. If your company is eligible, request a matching gift from your employer and let us know when you send your gift. We will do the rest. Your gift may be doubled or possibly tripled! Some companies match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses so check with your former employer.

endowment
The Women’s Resource Center appreciates and offers many gift opportunities that can be tailored to your specific financial and estate planning needs, including:

  • Naming the Women’s Resource Center as a beneficiary in your will
  • Naming the Women’s Resource Center as a beneficiary of your 401(k), 403(b) or IRA
  • Naming the Women’s Resource Center as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy
  • Establishing a trust that provides income to the Women’s Resource Center
  • Making a gift of real estate

For more information on these options, please contact Peg Ruddy at 570-346-4460.

goods and services
Donations of supplies are always needed and appreciated. Many victims of domestic or sexual violence are forced to leave their homes with nothing but their children. Items such as hygiene products, diapers, baby food and formula, school supplies, bus tickets and a no-longer used cell phone can make an important difference. Gift cards for survivors to purchase clothes, food and other necessities are very much appreciated. Join our mailing list and stay informed on what is on our wish list.
